Biography

Piper (so called because he could indeed play the bagpipes), was from local junior side Elmwood. He had played as a trialist and under an alias before signing in February 1943. Re-signed after the war ended, he was a big favourite with the fans for the next two seasons but on Christmas Day 1947 it was announced that he was moving to Dundee in a swap deal for Jimmy Dickson.
